SIX ARTISTS AND BANDS RECEIVE THE 2025 KRAUMUR MUSIC AWARDS

Alaska1867, Ásta, knackered, Kusk & Óviti, LucasJoshua and Rakel receive this year’s KRAUMUR MUSIC AWARDs for their albums that are considered to excel in terms of quality, ambition and originality.This is the eighteenth time that the KRAUMUR MUSIC Awards have been awarded, and the jury reviewed nearly 500 Icelandic albums and releases released during the year when selecting the award-winning albums of the year. The Kraumur Music Awards are not tied to a specific musical genre and have no subcategories. The awards are intended to celebrate and promote the album releases of Icelandic artists and bands each year. In total, close to one hundred artists and bands have received the Kraumur Awards for their albums, most of them early in their careers.

Among the artists who have received the Kraumur Prize for their albums are; Agent Fresco, Ásgeir, Cell7, Daníel Bjarnason, Elín Hall, FM Belfast, GDRN, gugusar, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Hjaltalín, Ísafold kammersveit, JDFR, Kælan mikla, Lay Low, Mammút, Moses Hightower, Ojba Rasta, Ólöf Arnalds, Retro Stefson, Samaris, Sin Fang, Sóley, Supersport!, Una Torfa and many more.The Kraumur Music Awards were presented on the December 4th, at the Sweet Salone – Aurora’s pop-up store at Mýrargata 41 in Reykjavik.

The 2025 Kraums Prize is selected by an eight-member jury consisting of people with diverse experience in discussing, playing and working with Icelandic music in the media and in other fields. The jury consists of; Árni Matthíasson (chairman of the jury), Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen, Birgitta Björg Guðmarsdóttir, Lovísa Rut Kristjánsdóttir, Óli Dóri, Rósa Birgitta Ísfeld, Trausti Júlíusson and Vaka Orradóttir.
