New Online Magazine on the collaboration of 1+1+1 and Aurora

The Nordic design group 1+1+1 has published an Online Magazine on their collaboration with Aurora Foundation.

Starting in 2017, 1+1+1 have been participating in Aurora Foundation’s Sweet Salone project, teaming up with talented Sierra Leonean craftspeople in creating functional objects made mostly from materials locally gathered in Sierra Leone. The resulting houseware collection called 1+1+1+Sweet Salone was launched at DesignMarch, Iceland‘s biggest design festival last week, notably well received by a large number of guests attending the opening.

1+1+1 is an experimental collaboration between designers from three Nordic countries: Hugdetta from Iceland, Petra Lilja from Sweden and Aalto+Aalto from Finland. In order to examine and re-imagine objects, each studio designs an object consisting of three distinct parts and then randomly assembles them, creating unpredictable combinations. In the new collection, a fusion of sleek Nordic design and rustic African craftsmanship results in exciting new shapes and forms.

The beautiful collaboration with the Sierra Leonean artisans made a big impact on the members of 1+1+1, as is evident from their exquisitely designed Online Magazine which can be seen below.

The 1+1+1+Sweet Salone collection will continue to be for sale in the Geysir Heima design boutique.
